LABORATORY SAFETY AWARENESS WEEK

Laboratory Safety Awareness Week is just a week away! Laboratory Safety Awareness week is a CSHEMA nationwide event that recognizes the success of laboratory health and safety programs and offers information and idioms on how to keep our faculty, staff, and students safe. As part of our efforts to promote Laboratory Safety Week 2025, the Environmental Health and Safety office would like to recognize Laboratory Safety Champions in your area! A Laboratory Safety Champion is someone
– Decrease the opportunity for a laboratory incident
– Having eyewash, safety shower, fire extinguishers, and spill kits unobstructed
– Following proper UNC Charlotte disposal procedures for hazardous waste, sharps, and biohazard materials
– Wearing PPE when handling chemicals
If you have an employee or team member who exemplifies those traits or encourages workplace safety in other ways for your office, you may use the following link to recognize your Laboratory Safety Champion: 2025 Lab Safety Champion All submission should be submitted by Friday, February 14th.
