Supervisors / Managers

Supervisor safety training courses are designed to equip managers and leaders with the knowledge and skills to promote a safer and healthier work environment. Explore the resources and courses to learn how to incorporate safety in your work environment.

What you need to know

1. Employee Course Registration

To ensure proper compliance, the Learning and Development Portal restricts who can register for certain courses:

  • Required Safety Training: Employees cannot self-register for required online safety courses. A list of required safety training courses based on specific tasks is available for each work environment.
  • Recommended Safety Training: Employees are allowed to self-register for recommended injury prevention and safety awareness courses.  Access the Learning and Development Portal and search the training course name.
  • Safety Talks / Fact Sheets:  Employees are allowed to complete in a self-directed learning method.  Supervisors are encouraged to facilitate as supplemental training aid and track attendance.

2. Tracking & Managing Progress

Because portal notifications are automated, supervisors must actively manage their team’s training time and deadlines:

  • No Registration Alerts: You will not receive an email when an employee registers for a course. Be sure to communicate your expectations clearly, especially regarding how much work time they should allocate to complete their training.
  • Overdue Alerts: You will generally receive a notification if an employee misses a training due date. It is the supervisor’s responsibility to follow up and ensure completion.
