Fire & Life Safety
The Fire & Life Safety team administers compliance programs that increase the campus community’s awareness of fire and life safety. The team specifically provides consultative and enforcement services to ensure institutional compliance with the North Carolina Fire Code (NCFC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
What’s New
- Prohibited Locations: Space heaters are prohibited in residence, laboratory, academic, business, assembly, health care patient rooms and athletic locations on campus.
- Safety Authorization: Space heaters shall not be used without authorization from the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) office. To request authorization, please submit a Fire & Life Safety Space Heater safety service request. If a space heater is authorized for use, you will receive an email confirmation from the EHS office.
- Registration: If authorized, space heaters must be registered. Complete the Space Heater Use Permit Form to register your space heater.
